About BayLife
All right, so you have some questions about us, right? Well, this is the
place to have them answered. Have a question that's not covered? Click
here and submit your question. We'll get around to answering it either
personally or on this page as soon as possible.
QUESTION: Just who are you people anyway?
Excellent question! I'm glad you asked! We are the Ministry to Students
at El Morro Church of the Nazarene in Los Osos, California. We're
located at 1480 Santa Ysabel, just down the road from the Middle School.
QUESTION: So ... um ... what do you people DO?
Wonderful question! I'm happy you asked! Our main times together are
Sunday morning at 9:30am for Sunday School, Tuesday evenings at 7pm for
Sr. High (9th-12th), and Wednesday evenings at 6:30pm for Jr. High
(6th-8th). In addition, we attend the 11am Sunday service with the
rest of the church.
QUESTION: This Tuesday/Wednesday "BayLife" thing -- what's that?
Great question! I'm pleased you asked! Tuesday and Wednesday nights are
our times together during the week. Tuesdays, we start at seven
(come early for coffee and talk time), and Wednesdays we start at 6:30.
QUESTION: Now, I guess I should ask -- what do you believe?
Fantastic question! I'm delighted you asked! El Morro Church is part of
a worldwide denomination known as the Church of the Nazarene. Like other
mainstream Christians, we believe that Jesus was the Christ, the perfect
Son of God, and that He died on the cross, rose again, and went back to
heaven. We believe that through Jesus, we have access directly to God --
that He hears us when we pray, and that He will forgive us for those
wrong things we do if we ask with a sincere heart. We believe that
nothing can steal us out of God's hand, but we can walk away from Him
and break the beautiful relationship He wants us to have with Him. But
the great news is that we believe that God offers us the chance to
become more and more like Him -- to experience "holiness" in our own
lives. That's His gift to us! It's not easy, but with God, all things
are possible.
QUESTION: So at this "BayLife" thing - what do you do?
Terrific question! I'm ecstatic you asked! BayLife differs a bit from
week to week, but there are some things you can ALWAYS expect. First, we
have a great time just being together. We like each other, and we like
meeting new people and making them friends. We usually have a time of
music with our worship band. They're a talented bunch -- and the music
we sing is all about telling God how wonderful we think He is. We often
play a game and award prizes. We always have at least one time when we
pray together -- and we often share some of our requests with each
other. Topping it all off, we have a lesson based out of the Bible. With
the Senior High Group, we break up into small groups, too.
